Academic Work

I began my career as a medical anthropologist, graduating with distinction from the University of Amsterdam. My early research explored the lived experiences of people diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I have worked in the field of disability studies and published extensively on aspects related to living with chronic illness, such as (in)visibility, (in)dependence and happiness. My PhD research focused on how early-onset dementia shapes the relationships of family members in the Netherlands.
